Benue APC distances itself from purported congresses, warns members

On Monday, February 24, 2025, the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a statement distancing itself from the reported ward and local government congresses allegedly conducted by unknown individuals in some Local Government Areas of the state.
The party, led by Austin Agada, clarified that it had not authorized any local government chapter to conduct congresses. In a statement by the state publicity secretary, Mr. Daniel Ihomun, the APC emphasized that all official party activities, including congresses, must be directed and supervised by the National Secretariat of the party.
“For the avoidance of doubt, all official party activities, including the conduct of Congresses, are strictly directed and supervised by the National Secretariat of our great party,” Ihomun said, adding that any activities carried out outside this framework are considered illegal, null, and void.
The APC further warned its members not to participate in the unauthorized congresses, noting that individuals involved in the illegal process could face serious disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion from the party.
“We urge all party faithful in Benue State to remain calm and await official communication from the National Secretariat regarding legitimate party congresses,” Ihomun added, urging members to disregard any unauthorized directives.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all party processes are transparent, fair, and conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution and guidelines.
