Benue APC denounces dissolution of State Working Committee

The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the recent dissolution of its State Working Committee (SWC), declaring the action illegal, unlawful, and unconstitutional.

In a statement released on Thursday, August 22, Daniel Ihomum, the party’s Publicity Secretary, addressed the issue. He stated, “We are compelled to respond to the alleged dissolution of the Benue State Working Committee by the National Working Committee of our party on August 21.

“Our members in Benue State should ignore this purported dissolution, as it is illegal and unconstitutional. This is because there is a standing court order from Honourable Justice T.A. Igoche of the Benue State High Court, Makurdi, which restrains the National Working Committee or any other APC organ from removing, replacing, or dissolving the Benue State Working Committee until the end of its four-year term, pending the resolution of the motion on Notice.”

Ihomum further emphasized, “It is both illegal and unconstitutional for the National Working Committee to attempt to remove or dissolve a democratically elected State Working Committee while a valid court order is in place. This action will not stand!

“We urge all our party members and supporters to disregard this alleged dissolution. The National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) must adhere to the court’s ruling.

“Furthermore, the Local Government Primary Election scheduled for Saturday, August 24, will proceed as planned.”
