Benin Republic star Matteo Ahlinvi may miss Super Eagles clash due to injury

On Monday, November 11, Benin Republic’s star midfielder Matteo Ahlinvi became an injury doubt for his country’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Nigeria and Libya.

Ahlinvi, who plays for Vasteras in Sweden, picked up an injury during his team’s match against Hammarby on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The 25-year-old had to leave the pitch in the 34th minute of the game, and the full extent of the injury is still unknown.

So far, Ahlinvi has played 22 times for the Benin Republic national team, also known as the Cheetahs.

Benin Republic is set to face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a crucial qualifier at the Felix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Following that, the Cheetahs will travel to face Libya’s Mediterranean Knights on Monday, November 18, 2024.
