Bauchi governor imposes 24-hour curfew on Katagum LGA due to rising security issues
Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed has put a 24-hour curfew in place for Katagum Local Government Area due to rising security issues after last Tuesday’s End Bad Governance protest.
The governor decided on this curfew after several violent incidents that led to damage of public property, theft, and other issues in the area.
The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, in a statement shared with reporters in Bauchi on Monday.
According to the statement, Governor Mohammed has directed all security agencies to take immediate action to manage the situation, catch those responsible, and ensure they face justice.
The governor also urged the community to cooperate with security forces during this difficult time.
DAILY POST reports that 52 protesters were arrested last Friday for alleged violent actions following the demonstration that started on Thursday in the state.
State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, updated reporters on the situation, mentioning that a police officer was injured during the protest. He added that the arrests were made due to breaches of public order and unlawful assembly throughout the state.
