Bamboo unlocks exciting opportunity for Africans to trade U.S. stocks with new US licence

On Thursday, December 19, Bamboo, a Nigerian investment app, made a huge leap forward by securing a U.S. broker-dealer licence through its affiliate, Bamboo Securities L.L.C. This milestone makes Bamboo the very first Nigerian fintech to earn this licence, opening doors for people all over Africa to invest in U.S. stocks.

Thanks to this licence, Bamboo can now work with African brokers and businesses to offer easy access to the U.S. stock market. Companies can team up with Bamboo to help their customers start investing in U.S. stocks, bringing the global market closer to Africans everywhere.

But why is this such a big deal? Africa’s wealth management market has always been small compared to other regions, with only a tiny portion of global wealth found on the continent. Bamboo is changing that by making it possible for anyone with a smartphone to invest in the global stock market.

Since launching in 2019, Bamboo has been a leader in this space, helping over 300,000 users invest in thousands of U.S. and Nigerian stocks. And Bamboo is not stopping there! They are also launching a new app called “Coins by Bamboo,” which makes it easier and cheaper for Nigerians living abroad to send money home.

This exciting new development is set to bring even more opportunities to people across Africa!
