Atiku, Obi, and El-Rufai unite under ADC to launch powerful opposition coalition

On Tuesday night, May 20, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and ex-Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai agreed to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the official platform for a new opposition coalition.
According to an insider who spoke to DAILY POST, the decision was finalized during a late-night meeting that extended into the early hours of Wednesday, May 21.
“They have adopted the African Democratic Party as the coalition party. All of them — Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai — are working together. The conclusion meeting took place,” the source revealed.
The unnamed insider added that committees were immediately set up to handle the details of the coalition, including legal structures and public relations strategies.
“You know politicians meet when we are asleep,” the source quipped, emphasizing how quietly the deal was struck.
Although no official date has been announced for the public unveiling of the coalition, sources say it will happen very soon.
This powerful alliance could reshape the 2027 political landscape, signaling a unified front from previously divided opposition leaders.
