Arsenal beats Manchester United at Old Trafford, keeps title hopes alive
Arsenal did the needful against bitter rivals Manchester United as Mikel Arteta’s men escaped with a narrow 1-0 win on Sunday, May 12.
Manchester United’s starting lineup was notably missing captain Bruno Fernandes and key forward Marcus Rashford. Both players were out due to injury.
Arsenal had all its key players fit, so the usual faces were in the starting lineup.
It was a hard fought game for both teams, but Arsenal was able to find the deciding goal when Leandro Trossard converted Kai Havertz’s cutback and slotted it past a helpless Andre Onana in the 20th minute.
Man United missed the services of their absentees, as Erik Ten Hag’s men had two Premier League debutants on their bench, such were the options he could turn to.
This win puts Arsenal top of the league table, having played one more game than Man City. Pep Guardiola’s men play their game in hand on Tuesday, May 14, against Tottenham Hotspur.
Man United remains in 8th place.
