APGA sets April 5 for Anambra 2025 governorship primary

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has scheduled its 2025 governorship primary election for Anambra State to hold on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
This announcement was made in a statement signed by Ifeanyi Mbaeri, APGA’s National Organizing Secretary and Secretary of the 2025 Electoral Committee. The party has also constituted a five-member Electoral Committee, headed by Chief Uche Nwegbo, the Deputy National Chairman (South), to supervise the primary.
According to the statement, accreditation of delegates and observers will begin at 8 a.m. and close by 12 noon, outside the venue, specifically on the tarred road leading to the New Government House. Only those in the queue before the deadline will be accredited.
The party emphasized that only duly accredited individuals will be granted access into the main premises. All delegates and observers are required to present valid identification such as a National ID card, international passport, or voter’s card and must wear their tags visibly throughout the exercise.
Delegates will be seated according to their Local Government Areas (LGAs) at clearly marked stands. Observers will have a designated section. APGA noted that all elected officials who are delegates must remain seated with their respective LGAs.
Voting will be conducted through balloting, with delegates required to indicate “YES” or “NO” on the ballot paper. The voting will proceed LGA by LGA in alphabetical order, and results will be sorted, counted, and declared by the Electoral Committee immediately after.
The party stressed that the process would adhere strictly to the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and INEC’s regulations. It called on all participants to comply fully with the election guidelines to ensure a smooth and credible primary.
