APC suspends party chieftain Dagogo over alleged anti-party activities

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended a chieftain of the party, Mr Fubara Dagogo, over alleged gross misconduct and anti-party activities in Rivers State.

The suspension was announced by the leadership of Ward 4, New Layout, in Bonny Local Government Area, in a letter dated March 16, 2026.

The letter was jointly signed by the Ward Chairman, Mr Richard Ibani Benstowe, and the Secretary, Mr Donald Jumbo.

Reading the notice in a video seen on social media, Benstowe said Dagogo’s actions contravened Article 21.2 (I), (II), and (VII) of the APC Constitution (2022 as amended).

He stated that Dagogo conducted himself in a manner capable of ridiculing the party and bringing it into disrepute.

According to him, the decision followed a resolution reached by members and leaders of Ward 4 during an emergency meeting held on March 16.

“Following the resolution of the members and leaders of Ward 4, New Layout, at an emergency meeting held on the 16th day of March 2026, you are hereby suspended indefinitely from the APC on the grounds of breach of the provisions of our party’s constitution,” he said.

Benstowe further accused Dagogo of engaging in anti-party activities, flouting party rules and decisions, and making unguarded statements that demean party leaders within and outside the state.

“These actions are capable of embarrassing the party and have adverse effects, bringing the party to ridicule and disrepute,” he added.

He noted that the party had previously warned members against actions capable of undermining its integrity, but alleged that Dagogo failed to comply.

The ward leadership said the suspension takes immediate effect and urged the state secretary to endorse the resolution and take necessary action.
