APC re-elects Yilwatda, Basiru as national chairman, secretary at convention

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda and Ajibola Basiru have been returned as National Chairman and National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), respectively.
The party re-elected them at its 8th national convention, also described as its fourth elective convention, held in Abuja on Friday.
At the convention, all members of the National Working Committee (NWC) were also returned through consensus and an affirmative voice vote. The newly elected officials were immediately sworn in and are expected to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
Other members of the NWC include Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Dalori; Deputy National Chairman (South), Emma Eneukwu; National Financial Secretary, Alhaji Bashir Gumel; and National Legal Adviser, Murtala Kankia, among others.
In his acceptance speech, Yilwatda said the committee was ready to lead the party and contribute to rebuilding Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
“Our mission is clear. That together, we will build a Pan-African and Pan-Nigerian party that is stronger, transparent, inclusive, and more disciplined and united than ever,” he said.
He added that the leadership would deepen internal democracy, strengthen party structures, expand its reach across communities, and empower young people, whom he described as a vital part of the present and future.
