APC leaders rally support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid in kano

APC leaders unite to back Tinubu’s 2027 bid in Kano State
Key figures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kano State have publicly declared their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he prepares for the 2027 general elections. The rallying call came after a closed-door meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, led by Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past National Chairman of the APC and former Governor of Kano State, alongside the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin.
Ganduje, speaking to journalists after the meeting, emphasized that APC stakeholders from Kano are united and committed to ensuring not only the re-election of President Tinubu but also the retention of the Kano State governorship seat by the party in the upcoming polls.
Commitment to party unity and electoral success
“We are here, and we examine the progress, the successes that we have achieved in our great party in Kano State,” Ganduje said. “We are also here to assure Mr President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, that our party in Kano State is solidly behind him.”
He praised President Tinubu’s policy reforms, noting their positive impact on the country and Kano State specifically. Ganduje also lauded the appointments Tinubu has made for indigenes of Kano, signaling strong federal support for the state.
Barau Jibrin underscores strategic nature of the meeting
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin described the gathering as a strategic meeting focused on rallying support across Kano and northern Nigeria. He reassured that APC leaders and grassroots supporters would intensify efforts to communicate the successes of President Tinubu’s administration to the electorate.
“We have urged and propelled our people and ourselves that we are going to do more to tell the people of our state and indeed the entire northern states what the President is doing and what he has done for our nation,” Barau stated.
He reaffirmed that the APC in Kano and the broader north stands firmly behind Tinubu.
Key projects highlight Tinubu’s achievements in Kano
Honorable Abubakar Bichi, another notable attendee, praised the President’s developmental projects in Kano, especially the progress on critical road infrastructure.
He dismissed claims that Tinubu’s administration has neglected Kano or the northern region, calling such narratives “all politics.”
“So for someone to say Mr President is not interested in the North or in Kano State is all politics,” Bichi said.
Other notable APC stakeholders at the meeting
In addition to Ganduje and Barau, the meeting was attended by several key APC figures including:
-
Minister of State for Housing, Alhaji Abdullahi Atta
-
Senator Kawu Sumaila
-
Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar
-
Senator Kabiru Gaya
-
Sulaiman Bichi
-
Hon. Mohammed Garba
The gathering underscored the party’s solidified unity in Kano State as APC prepares for a critical election cycle.
Looking ahead to 2027 general elections
With Nigeria’s 2027 general elections approaching, the APC in Kano is clearly positioning itself for a strong electoral showing, aligning grassroots efforts and leadership support behind President Tinubu and their preferred gubernatorial candidate.
This meeting also reflects a broader trend of political consolidation within the ruling party across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones ahead of the next polls.
