APC confident of winning Edo governorship election – Ganduje
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is optimistic that the party will secure victory in the Edo governorship election scheduled for Saturday, September 21.
Ganduje shared his confidence while meeting with the leadership of the Kano State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Thursday, August 29. He highlighted that a robust political strategy is in place to ensure a decisive win for the APC’s candidate.
“I believe our campaign is in high spirits and we are fully prepared for the election. We are confident that we will reclaim Edo State,” Ganduje said.
He explained that although the state was previously an APC stronghold, internal challenges led to a loss to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Ganduje expressed confidence that the party will overcome these challenges and regain control of Edo State.
Looking ahead to the Ondo State election in November, Ganduje noted that while the state is already under APC influence, the party has addressed issues left by the former governor and is prepared for the upcoming poll.
Ganduje added, “Winning in Edo would mean gaining an additional state for the APC, bringing our total to 21 out of 36 states.”
He also discussed the party’s strategy for the South-East geopolitical zone, traditionally governed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Ganduje said the APC is focused on expanding its influence in the region.
“We are aiming to make significant inroads in Anambra, following our successes in Ebonyi and Imo states. Our goal is to capture most of the states in the South-East, and eventually, all of them,” Ganduje said.
