APC chieftain Eze Chukwuemeka slams Tinubu’s administration as clueless, insensitive

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing it as “clueless and insensitive” in response to growing hardship and widespread hunger in the country.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, June 18, to commemorate the 60th birthday of former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, Eze praised Amaechi’s recent remarks acknowledging hunger in Nigeria, calling them a bold reflection of national suffering under Tinubu’s government.

“As it is in Nigeria today, under the insensitive and clueless government of President Tinubu, it is an act most abominable for any Nigerian to say he is hungry. In fact, it is now a national taboo and sanctionable crime for Tinubu’s men to hear that Nigerians are hungry,” Eze said.

He condemned the backlash Amaechi received from Tinubu allies — particularly FCT Minister Nyesom Wike — over his comment at a symposium where he admitted to being hungry. According to Eze, the former minister’s statement was a “patriotic plea” and a wake-up call for the president to reconsider what he described as “obnoxious, anti-people” economic policies.

“Amaechi saying he is hungry is a subtle way of advising Tinubu to have a rethink and save Nigerians from dying. It’s a hard truth that must be said without minding whose ox is gored.”

Eze further warned that only those with access to public funds or positions in government can now afford three square meals, while the rest of the population suffers in silence.

He went as far as comparing the current hardship to wartime conditions:

“Even during the Nigeria/Biafra War, Nigerians were not subjected to the level of wickedness and poverty currently pervading the nation under Tinubu due to his misguided policies.”

On Wike and political sycophancy

Eze also criticised Minister Wike, accusing him of mocking Amaechi — the man he claims “moulded and tutored” him politically — instead of acknowledging the substance of Amaechi’s message.

“Contrary to Wike’s reasoning, Amaechi did not mean he literally cannot feed his family. His statement points to the fact that unless you are in government or looting public funds, you will feel the pang of hunger.”

He accused Wike and other government officials of living lavishly while the public endures deepening poverty, urging them to stop mocking dissenting voices.

“Sycophancy is another major problem in the country that must be tackled.”

Call for compassion and policy shift

Eze urged President Tinubu to adopt compassionate policies and respond to the outcry of ordinary Nigerians rather than dismiss their plight. He also warned against “weaponizing hunger” and described the current hardship as a national emergency.

“Building flyovers in Abuja and making noise can never quench the thirst and hunger in Nigerians. If you are hungry, can you ascend and descend from a flyover?”

He concluded with a call for hope, prayer, and a focus on 2027, suggesting the current hardship could influence the next general election.

“Amaechi is Nigerians, and Nigerians are Amaechi.”
