Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has rewarded Super Falcons defender Tosin Demehin with ₦30 million and a house for her exceptional performance at the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The announcement was made during a civic reception in Akure held to honour Ondo State indigenes who were part of Nigeria’s victorious Super Falcons squad.
“This is a proud moment for us. Tosin Demehin has made Ondo State proud on the continental stage,” the governor said.
“As a token of our appreciation, the state government is awarding her ₦30 million and a house at Sunshine Estate, Oba-Ile.”
Demehin, from Ilaje Local Government Area, was a key figure in Nigeria’s defense during the tournament and helped the Falcons secure another WAFCON title. Governor Aiyedatiwa praised her as a symbol of discipline, resilience, and excellence.
Aiyedatiwa rewards team officials too
In addition to Demehin’s reward, the governor also recognized:

Both were awarded ₦15 million each for their behind-the-scenes contributions to the team’s success.
“I am extremely delighted to welcome home our brave daughters. You have not only brought glory to the nation, but you have honoured Ondo State,” Aiyedatiwa said.
Commitment to sports and youth empowerment
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to youth development and sports investment, stating that the government will continue to create opportunities for young talents to thrive.
He also pledged maximum support to Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure, with the aim of returning the team to Nigeria’s top-flight league.
The gesture has been widely praised as a powerful motivation for athletes and sports professionals across the state and the country.
