AGN suspends Shirley Igwe over alleged assault on film set

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced the indefinite suspension of Nollywood actress Shirley Igwe following allegations that she assaulted a crew member during a film production.
According to reports, Igwe allegedly slapped a member of the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) while on set, prompting swift disciplinary action by the AGN.
In a statement circulated to its state chapter chairmen and national leadership, the Guild said the suspension was in response to “violence, and indiscipline actions capable of discrediting the acting profession.”
The statement also instructed members to avoid participating in any production involving Igwe during the suspension period.
The AGN noted that the suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome of an investigation into the incident.
