AFCON 2025 qualifier: Nigeria vs Rwanda clash ends goalless in Kigali
Rwanda and Nigeria played out a 0-0 draw in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday two encounter in Kigali on Tuesday, September 10.
Buoyed by the support from their fans, the Amavubi dominated the opening minutes.
The Super Eagles however took control of the game with the lively Ademola Lookman causing problems for the hosts’ defence.
Lookman was put through on goal in the 20th minute by Wilfred Ndidi but his shot was saved by Ntwari Fiacre.
The Atalanta winger put the ball inside the net three minutes later but the goal was controversially chalked off by the centre referee.
Victor Boniface hit the woodwork nine minutes before the break after he was set up by Lookman.
Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen made two changes at the start of second half.
Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon took the place of Victor Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze.
The Super Eagles created a number of chances in the second half but Ntwari thwarted their efforts.
The West Africans remain top of Group D with four points from two games.
Nigeria will host the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in their next game in the qualifiers next month.
