Adey accuses Nigerian police of shooting at him, claims they tried to kill him

Afrobeats producer Adegboyega Ikwue Ogunlesi, popularly known as Adey, has accused Nigerian police officers of shooting at him during an encounter on a Lagos highway.

In a post shared on his X handle on Monday, January 6, Adey claimed that the officers falsely accused him of trying to kill them and nearly caused an accident by seizing control of his car’s steering wheel.

“Nigerian police shot at me today, claimed I tried to kill them, and almost totalled my car by grabbing the steering wheel and driving me into a ditch. No wahala,” Adey wrote.

The music producer, visibly frustrated, also expressed his growing disillusionment with Nigeria and the issue of police brutality in the country. “I’m tired of this country and the police brutality,” he added in a follow-up post.

As of now, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued a statement in response to Adey’s allegations.
