ADC youth vow to defeat Tinubu in 2027, warn against INEC bias

Even if Onanuga becomes INEC chair, “we’ll beat them silly”

The youth wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) says the party is ready to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections—regardless of who leads the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday under the banner of the African Democratic Youth Congress (ADYC), the group warned Tinubu against tampering with the appointment process for a new INEC chairman, as Prof. Mahmood Yakubu’s tenure is set to end in December 2025.

“Fire for fire” in 2027

The group took aim at rumors that Tinubu could name his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, as Yakubu’s successor.

“Even if he makes Onanuga the INEC chairman, we’ll beat them silly in 2027,” the youths declared. “Politics is about numbers. They can bring all the money they want—we’re ready.”

Referencing a recent tweet by Onanuga, the group said, “We saw Onanuga asking ‘how market?’ The waters have been tested. In upcoming elections, they’ll know how market is. It’s going to be fire for fire.”

Matching APC “style for style”

The ADC youths accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to subvert the people’s will and said they’re prepared to match every tactic used.

“We’re not backing down. We’ll defend every vote from polling units to final collation. No manipulation will go unchallenged,” they said.
