Ralph Okey Nwosu, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reassess and refine his vision to better serve Nigeria.
Nwosu criticized Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” claiming that it has only resulted in increased poverty and hardship for Nigerians. He expressed disappointment that the vision of the current administration remains unclear and has yet to resonate with the public.
“It’s not just about asking the president to change his cabinet members; it’s about understanding his vision,” Nwosu said. “What exactly has President Tinubu communicated as his vision for the country? It seems his focus is more on consolidating power rather than providing real value.”
Nwosu questioned the effectiveness of the “Renewed Hope Agenda,” pointing out issues such as poverty, infrastructural decay, and corruption. He highlighted concerns about the administration’s handling of foreign debt and the seizure of presidential jets and properties.
“For those of us who remember Tinubu from his time as a senator in 1991 and his involvement in NADEC to restore Abiola’s mandate, it’s disheartening to see what he has become,” Nwosu added. “If his vision aligns more with installing his allies and ignoring the needs of the poor, it risks turning into a banana republic. If he can realign his vision with ADC’s goals, we are open to supporting him.”
Nwosu also commented on the recent police invitation to Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero, advising caution to the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies. He urged them to ensure their actions do not undermine the interests of Nigeria’s over 200 million citizens and to maintain the integrity of their profession.
“I urge the Inspector General of Police and other intelligence agencies to be mindful of their actions. They must avoid reckless behavior that could harm the interests of Nigerians and preserve the sanctity of their roles,” Nwosu warned.
