Abi evicted from Big Brother Naija Season 11 after two spells as Head of House

Popular Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate Abi has left the show.

She was evicted on Sunday night during the live show hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu. The exit surprised many viewers because of her profile in the house and the way she had played the game. Abi had been Head of House twice in this “Show Ya Sef” edition, winning the title in weeks four and six before Sunday’s vote removed her.

The season began on 26 July with 24 contestants chasing a N160 million prize.

A double Head of House run is usually a shield. It brings power over nominations, tasks and the social temperature of the house. That it did not keep Abi beyond week seven is the story inside the surprise. Eviction on this show is a public verdict, not a producers’ ranking of who “played well.”

Popularity on the outside and control on the inside can still lose to a nomination that lands in the wrong week, or to a voting public that has already chosen another favourite.

Sixteen or so housemates remain, depending on the exact count after previous exits, and the game now runs without one of its early authority figures. Alliances that formed around her chair will have to re-form around someone else.

For a season that started with two dozen names, each Sunday night is how the field is cut down to the group that will still be there when the prize is close. Abi’s two titles are now part of the history of this edition, not a guarantee of a longer stay. The house moves on with one fewer voice that had already learned how to run a week.
