Refrain from hostility toward Kenneth Okonkwo – Charly Boy to Nigerians

Eccentric entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy, has urged Nigerians to refrain from negativity toward Kenneth Okonkwo, a former member of the Labour Party (LP), following Okonkwo’s recent criticism of the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

On Sunday, July 28, Okonkwo, who served as the spokesperson for the LP presidential campaign in the 2023 elections, announced his departure from the party and the Obidient movement. In a social media letter, Okonkwo criticized Obi’s handling of internal party conflicts.

In response, Obi stated that Okonkwo was not a mole within the LP despite his critiques.

Charly Boy weighed in on the situation, emphasizing that differing opinions should not be met with hostility. He posted on X: “PO has a legendary way of making an enormous energy and time deployed in senselessly attacking him look like a waste of energy and time.”

He added, “Disagreements and differing opinions are a natural part of any group, society, or movement. It is essential to maintain respect and decorum even when we disagree. Having differing views does not make someone an enemy. We should engage in constructive dialogue rather than resorting to personal attacks or negativity.”

Charly Boy further expressed, “I personally don’t want to work with anyone who always agrees with me. As a leader, learning and listening are crucial. I prefer to hear different opinions and either convince others otherwise or consider their advice if it proves valuable.”
