Seun Kuti, popular Nigerian musician and son of legendary musician and social activist, Fela Kuti, has revealed why he is not close with his first daughter.
The singer said this while speaking about his journey of fatherhood.
In a viral video, in an interview with popular media personality, Timi Agbaje, Kuti revealed that he had a baby mama before getting married to his wife, Yetunde.
While describing fatherhood as his greatest achievement, he attributed the lack of closeness with his first daughter to a lack of connection with her mother.
“The greatest thing I ever achieved is becoming a father, I have two kids but I’m not really close to my other daughter but to have the joy of that is my greatest achievement.
“It’s complicated circumstances. No family is perfect, but I’m not close to the mother of my first daughter.
“I wasn’t married when I had my first daughter. Interestingly, I only had premarital sex twice before my first daughter was born.”
