CIIFA, Google partner to empower 8,000 youth in Nigeria’s creative sector

The Creative Industries Initiative for Africa, has decided to partner with Google to launch the second group of the Engage Nigeria programme, aimed at arming 8,000 youth with creative industry skills.

Google said in a statement that the initiative is part of the Skill Sprint programme launched in 2023 to provide digital skills training to 20,000 Nigerian women and young adults.

It noted that the programme would benefit 6,000 creatives from across Nigeria, offering comprehensive training in various creative disciplines, including music business and production, event planning and management, cinematography and videography, animation, graphic design, and content creation.

It added that participants would also receive mentorship from industry professionals and networking opportunities with industry leaders.

The Engage Nigeria programme supports the growth of Nigeria’s creative economy, which has been making a significant impact on the global scene.

This programme, according to the tech giant, aims to provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in various creative disciplines.

It said that the first cohort of the programme saw over 2,200 participants receive valuable training and mentorship.

According to the tech giant, the second cohort promises to be even bigger and better, with expanded reach and new partnerships.
