The Euro 2024 is gradually getting to its end, as the quarterfinals have been played and the semifinalists have emerged.
Spain knocked out Germany, France kicked Portugal out, England scraped past Switzerland, and Netherlands had to rise tall after going behind against Turkey.
As a result, Spain faces France in the semifinals, while England takes on a Netherlands side that has been solid in this competition so far.
Spain vs France
Spain has been high-flying in this Euros, looking the most convincing of all the challengers so far, and with Portugal and Germany out, every other country looks second to Luis De La Fuente’s men at first glance. However, France has a manager who is quite familiar with international tournaments, with Didier Deschamps having managed two World Cup finals so far. Two impressive footballing nations will clash in this one, and the victor is anyone’s guess.
England vs Netherlands
England has been less than stellar so far, but Gareth Southgate’s men deserve to be here as much as any other semifinalist. Ronald Koeman’s less-than-expansive system has worked for him so far, but whether it will be good enough to conquer Southgate’s men remains to be seen. England will be extra confident after winning a shootout against Switzerland, scoring all penalties. This is perhaps a much more anticipated clash than Spain vs France, if that’s possible.
