Health problems cause Isaac Geralds’ to abort 110-hour singing marathon
Isaac Geralds, a US-based Nigerian singer, has suspended his attempt to set a 110-hour world record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
The former MTN Project Fame contestant started the attempt on Sunday, June 2 — to surpass India’s Sunil Waghmare’s 105-hour record set in 2012.
He started the five-day exercise at the Continent DC, Washington DC, in the United States. He delivered a rendition of several songs ranging from gospel to funk, hip-hop oldies, and Afrobeats.
But on Thursday, the singer’s management announced that he would be halting the attempt at 98 hours, 26 minutes due to “health reasons”.
“Due to an unforeseen medical emergency, Isaac Geralds has had to step down from his attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon,” a statement from Geralds’ team reads.
“Isaac achieved an incredible 98 hours, 26 minutes out of the 110-hour goal. We thank everyone for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout this remarkable journey.”
A finalist in the 2017 MTN Project Fame edition, the singer had hoped to raise $500,000 and awareness for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
