Chelsea fails to take home three points from Sheffield United

Chelsea traveled to Bramall Lane for a game that could have signified a turning point for the west London club as it faced Sheffield United, who sits at the bottom of the Premier League table.

The match was played at Sheffield, on Sunday, April 7.

The Blues took the lead as expected, through a goal from Thiago Silva in the 11th minute. Silva had been out of the lineup for more than six weeks prior.

Sheffield United pegged their visitors back though, through a Jayden Bogle goal in the 32nd minute, to make the game level. Chelsea took the lead again in the 66th minute through a wonder strike by Noni Madueke.

It wasn’t until the three minutes into added time that Oliver McBurnie scored again to tie the game up, again, at 2-2.

This draw means Chelsea has missed the opportunity to place themselves well in the bid to secure a European place.

Chelsea still has a game in-hand, on Newcastle United, who is in 8th place, but the Sheffield United result means that even if it wins that game, it will remain below Newcastle in 9th place.
