Bayer Leverkusen refuses to rule out Alonso move away
Bayer Leverkusen Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Fernando Carro has refused to rule out a move away for manager Xabi Alonso, Fabrizio Romano reports.
Romano revealed this in a post on X.
Carro points out that Alonso has a contract with the Bundesliga club until 2026, but insists that football fans worldwide should not be surprised if he is not Leverkusen manager come the start of the 2024/25 season.
“Xabi Alonso has a contract until 2026 and there is no reason to doubt that he will stay here”.
“In football you never know what will happen but I have a lot of trust, we have a good relationship,” Carro said.
This suggests that some European giants are circling, and have been making inquiries about the hotshot manager who looks set to snatch the league title from Bayern Munich’s trophy locker.
Alonso’s Leverkusen looks set to become champions in May, as they sit 10 points clear at the top of the table, having not lost a game this season.
