Shehu Sani challenges El-Rufai to prove claim of fund diversion against Uba Sani

On Monday, March 17, 2025, Shehu Sani, the former Senator for Kaduna Central, responded strongly to allegations made by former Governor Nasiru El-Rufai that Governor Uba Sani had diverted Local Government Council funds.

In an interview over the weekend, Shehu Sani, a well-known Civil Rights Activist, addressed the claims, calling them false. Speaking with DAILY POST in Abuja, Sani firmly denied that such a diversion ever occurred.

He stated that El-Rufai’s accusation was “falsely crafted to smear the name of the Governor because of the N420 billion investigation hanging over him like the sword of Damocles.”

Sani challenged El-Rufai to provide solid evidence of property purchases in South Africa, Seychelles, and London by Governor Uba Sani, if the accusation was to be taken seriously.

“The people of Kaduna will not forget how Nasir El-Rufai mismanaged the state during his eight years as Governor,” Sani said. “He should stop spreading lies in the public space.”

He continued, saying, “As Kaduna indigenes, we are all living witnesses to how El-Rufai plundered the state, and now investigations have pointed fingers at him. He should face those rather than distract people with false claims.”

Sani added, “El-Rufai should be bold enough to show proof of Governor Uba Sani’s involvement in buying properties in South Africa, Seychelles, and London. Only then will we take him seriously. But he must also be prepared to explain where the N420 billion went because that money could have transformed Kaduna State.”

Sani’s response came after El-Rufai claimed that Governor Uba Sani used diverted Local Government funds to purchase properties overseas.
