Ademola Lookman set to leave Atalanta

On Tuesday, February 19, 2025, reports confirmed that Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman, is preparing to part ways with Serie A club Atalanta this summer.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared that this move has been in the plans since last year. “Understand the plan remains for Ademola Lookman to LEAVE Atalanta this summer. Atalanta will try to clarify the situation with Gasperini in the next 24 hours after strong quotes… but won’t change future plans. It was already planned last summer, transfer to happen this year,” Romano posted on X.

Lookman’s future with Atalanta came under scrutiny after he was criticized by head coach Gian Piero Gasperini following their disappointing 3-1 loss to Club Brugge in the Champions League play-off, which saw Atalanta eliminated 5-2 on aggregate.

Despite scoring the only goal for Atalanta in the match and missing a penalty, Gasperini harshly criticized Lookman for taking the penalty.

This season, Lookman has been in strong form, registering 15 goals and 6 assists in 28 appearances.
