South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, 24, found dead in her apartment

South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, aged 24, has tragically been found dead in her apartment in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, authorities confirmed on Sunday, February 16.
According to the police, Kim’s body was discovered by a friend at approximately 4:55 PM (07:55 GMT). While no signs of foul play were detected, investigators have launched an official inquiry to determine the cause of death.
Kim, who began her acting career as a child, was widely regarded as one of South Korea’s most promising young stars. She first gained international recognition for her role in A Brand New Life (2009), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Her career continued to flourish with roles in high-profile films, such as The Man from Nowhere (2010)—South Korea’s highest-grossing film of that year—and The Neighbour (2012), which earned her several award nominations.
Other notable works in Kim’s career included the 2014 film A Girl at My Door and the 2016 drama Mirror of the Witch.
However, Kim largely withdrew from the public eye in 2022 after a controversial drunk-driving incident, which led to a fine of 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023. Her last role was in Netflix’s Bloodhounds (2023), although many of her scenes were reportedly cut due to the public controversy surrounding her.
The news of Kim Sae-ron’s passing has shocked fans and the entertainment community, and many are mourning the loss of a young actress whose career seemed full of promise. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
