Tim Sherwood predicts Liverpool will win EPL title, names top-four finishers

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tim Sherwood has made his predictions for the Premier League title race, naming Liverpool as the team to beat this season and identifying the top-four finishers.

Sherwood, speaking to Metro via Discasino, shared his thoughts on the current state of the league. Despite Liverpool being ahead of Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, and Manchester City at the top of the table, Sherwood believes the Reds are “uncatchable” this season.

“I think at this stage you would be mad to say Liverpool won’t win the Premier League,” Sherwood said. “They’ve got the experience across the team and they’ve got world-class players in every position. Liverpool are uncatchable for me.”

Sherwood also forecasted the top four, naming Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea as the teams he expects to join Liverpool in the Champions League spots at the end of the season. While he believes Arsenal may not be able to win the league, he sees them holding strong for a top-two finish.

“It’s a dogfight for the rest of the positions but I think Arsenal will find a rhythm and be tough to catch for some of the other teams that are looking at that top-four,” he explained. “They had that sticky patch – exiting the FA Cup and they have a mountain to climb in the League Cup – and I don’t think they can win the league. But it’s not a write-off season for Arsenal.”

As for Manchester City, Sherwood predicted they would be competitive for second place but fall short of challenging for the title, although he sees them as contenders in the Champions League. Chelsea, despite a strong challenge from the likes of Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, is also expected to secure the final spot in the top four.

“My other two are Man City and Chelsea,” Sherwood said. “I think City will put a run together. They can’t win the league but I think they’ll finish well and push Arsenal for second. I even think they’re capable of winning the Champions League. Newcastle are having such a good run and Nottingham Forest have done so well but I think Chelsea might just pip it [the final top-four spot].”
