Pope Francis calls Trump’s migrant deportation plan a disgrace

Pope Francis has spoken out against former President Donald Trump’s plan to deport illegal migrants from the United States, calling it a “disgrace.” In an interview on an Italian TV program from his Vatican residence, the Pope expressed his strong disapproval of the proposal, saying it would unfairly target vulnerable people.

“If this plan goes ahead, it would force poor, struggling individuals to pay the price,” Pope Francis explained. “That’s not right. That’s not how you solve problems.”

In his message to Trump, shared on Monday, January 20, the Pope extended “cordial greetings” and encouraged him to lead with compassion, emphasizing the need for a society that leaves no space for hatred, discrimination, or exclusion. He urged the former president to focus on promoting peace and reconciliation among people.
