Stephen Curry reveals why he has utmost respect for Lionel Messi
On Tuesday, January 14, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry shared his admiration for Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi, explaining that he holds the Argentine footballer in the highest regard due to his dedication to maintaining himself both on and off the field.
Curry praised Messi for his incredible contributions to football, highlighting the Argentine’s success, longevity, and global impact in the sport. Messi, widely considered one of the greatest players in football history, has accumulated a remarkable list of achievements, including eight Ballon d’Or awards, six Golden Boots, the FIFA World Cup, two Copa America titles, an Olympic gold, and four UEFA Champions League trophies.
“Greatness inspires greatness in many ways. There’s nothing specific you can apply for football to basketball. It’s about longevity, creativity, his [Messi’s] impact on the sport worldwide,” Curry said in an interview with GOAL. “We appreciate greatness, of course, he inspires you to keep going and to keep doing things your way. I have the utmost respect for him for how he takes care of himself both on and off the field. I try to emulate the same.”
Curry, himself regarded as one of the all-time greats in basketball, has won four NBA titles, two MVP awards, an Olympic gold, and numerous other accolades, solidifying his place among the best in the game.
