Asake declared best-selling artist in Nigeria for 2024, achieves historic feat

Grammy-nominated superstar Asake has been crowned the best-selling artist in Nigeria for 2024, marking an unprecedented achievement as the first artist to top the annual TurnTable end-of-the-year chart for three consecutive years. The renowned music chart publication, which aggregates data from streaming platforms, radio, and TV airplay, confirmed Asake’s dominance in the industry throughout the year.

In 2024, Asake’s impact was undeniable, with all of his projects—including his previously released albums Mr. Money With The Vibe (MMWTV) and Work Of Art—securing multiple weeks in the top ten of the Official Top 100 Albums chart. His third album, Lungu Boy, released in August, made waves by becoming the best-selling album of the year and spending an impressive 15 weeks at No. 1 on the chart.

Asake’s success extended beyond album sales; he also dominated radio, becoming the No. 1 radio artist for the second year in a row. He secured the highest total chart points on the Official Nigeria Top 100 chart for 2024, further cementing his place at the top of Nigeria’s music scene.

His hit single “MMS,” featuring Wizkid, off Lungu Boy, was recognized as the No. 1 Afro-R&B song on the Year-End chart. The track debuted at No. 1 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 chart and maintained its position at the top for three consecutive weeks.

In addition to his chart-topping success, Asake’s influence was felt across multiple platforms. He finished the year as the No. 1 artist on Apple Music, with Lungu Boy also securing the top spot as the leading album. The album was the most-streamed on Audiomack, and Asake topped YouTube as the platform’s top artist, solidifying his status as Nigeria’s biggest musical force of 2024.
