Imo ex-lawmaker, Obi leaves LP, returns to APC
On Wednesday, December 18, former member of the House of Representatives, Paschal Obi, announced his decision to leave the Labour Party (LP) and rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC). Obi had previously represented the Ideato North and South Federal Constituency.
He was welcomed back to the APC by the state party’s expanded executive, led by Macdonald Ebere, after officially rejoining the party at the ward and local government levels.
In his speech, Obi explained that his decision to return to the APC was driven by the “massive infrastructural development efforts” led by Governor Hope Uzodinma. He also expressed gratitude to the state leadership of the APC, praising them for their excellent leadership, which he credited for the party’s strong performance during the last local government election.
Obi assured the party’s executive members of his continued support and loyalty.
Responding to Obi’s return, the state chairman of the APC thanked him for choosing to come back to the party. Many political figures from Ideato South also attended the event in support of Obi.
DAILY POST notes that Obi has had a varied political journey, having been a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), APC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and LP before returning to APC.
