Amorim urges Man Utd’s Antony to improve his defensive game
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has called on winger Antony to focus on improving his defensive skills as part of his development at Old Trafford.
Since taking over as manager, Amorim has given all Manchester United players a chance to prove themselves. The Portuguese tactician has been experimenting with different player combinations and positions as the team adjusts to his new 3-4-3 formation.
While players like Noussair Mazraoui and Amad Diallo have impressed in new roles, Antony, who has seen his standing drop at the club, still has some work to do to secure a regular spot in Amorim’s plans.
In a statement, Amorim emphasized that Antony could revitalize his Manchester United career if he focuses more on his defensive responsibilities.
“He did a great job improving in that position. He has to defend more, but he has the ability to do it and has to do it himself,” Amorim said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. “Every person has a chance; the power is in their hands!”
