Tragic: Taraba Governor’s sister dies from gunshot wounds after attack in Kente village
On Sunday, December 8, Atsi Kefas, the younger sister of Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, tragically passed away from gunshot wounds. She had been attacked in Kente village, located in the Wukari local government area of the state.
The 44-year-old succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital in Abuja, where she had been transferred for treatment after initially being admitted to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari.
There are differing accounts about what led to the attack. Some sources believe it was caused by a bandit attack, while others suggest the shots may have been fired accidentally by a security officer traveling with her. The Taraba State Police, however, have stated that the incident was related to an armed robbery.
As of Monday, December 9, the state government has not released an official statement on the matter. The lack of clear information has sparked concern and widespread criticism, especially regarding the ongoing insecurity in the state.
Atsi Kefas’ death has only deepened the worry over safety in Taraba, where violent incidents like these have become more common.
