Plumptre thrilled to make Super Falcons return after lengthy injury recovery
Ashleigh Plumptre has expressed her excitement after making her return to action for the Super Falcons, following a long period of recovery from a serious injury.
The Nigerian defender, who underwent surgery for a cruciate ligament injury in April, was forced to miss the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. After months of rehabilitation, Plumptre made her return to club football with Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad in October.
She was also back on the pitch for Nigeria during their 2-1 friendly defeat to France’s Les Bleues last weekend, marking a significant milestone in her recovery.
Celebrating her return, the former Leicester City player shared a heartfelt message on social media.
“A long road back but was happy to meet with this bunch again,” she wrote on Facebook on Friday, December 6.
