Obinna Nwobodo signs contract extension with FC Cincinnati
FC Cincinnati have confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Obinna Nwobodo has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him with the Major League Soccer (MLS) club for another season.
The announcement was made on the club’s official website on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. In their statement, FC Cincinnati revealed that they had exercised contract options for several players, including Nwobodo, along with Miles Robinson and Sergio Santos. The club also extended the contract option for Álvaro Barreal, who is currently on loan at Brazilian club Cruzeiro Esporte Clube until December 31, 2024.
Nwobodo, a former Flying Eagles star, joined FC Cincinnati from Turkish club Göztepe in 2022. Since then, he has made 80 appearances and scored twice for the team. Notably, Nwobodo is currently the highest-earning Nigerian player in the MLS.
