Gareth Bale predicts Kylian Mbappé will win Ballon d’Or despite challenges, snubs Vinicius Jr
Former Wales winger, Gareth Bale, has predicted that Kylian Mbappé will claim the prestigious Ballon d’Or next year, overlooking Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr. in favor of the French superstar.
Vinicius Jr., who had been a strong contender, missed out on the award last month to Manchester City’s Rodri.
On Friday, November 29, when asked by TNT Sports who he believed would win the Ballon d’Or in 2024, Bale confidently replied, “Kylian Mbappé.”
The 34-year-old went on to acknowledge the hurdles Mbappé is currently facing but remained optimistic about his future prospects. “It’s just unfortunate that at the moment it’s not quite going Mbappé’s way,” Bale said. “But I think on his day he’s the best player in the world, and it’s just a matter of time before he comes good.”
While his Ballon d’Or prediction leaned toward Mbappé, Bale did not back him to top the scoring charts in either La Liga or the Champions League. Instead, he chose Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane as his favorites for those honors.
