Police arraigns man for alleged N500,000 fraud in Ibadan
On Friday, November 29, the Oyo State Police arraigned Daniel Chukwu, a 40-year-old man, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over an alleged N500,000 fraud.
Chukwu, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Toyin Ibrahim, told the court that the offence occurred in August 2022 in the Dugbe area of Ibadan. Ibrahim stated that Chukwu had fraudulently converted the money belonging to God’s Grace Cooperative Society to his personal use.
The offence, Ibrahim explained, violated Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Kausarat Ayofe granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000, with two reliable sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned to January 6, 2025, for hearing.
