Yahaya Bello set for arraignment in Abuja court on November 27
On Wednesday, November 27, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is expected to be arraigned before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja. This follows his submission to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, where he turned himself in alongside his lawyers.
After his surrender, the EFCC detained him for further clarifications and to prepare for his arraignment. He will appear before Justice Maryan Anenih at the FCT High Court in Maitama.
The arraignment was scheduled after the EFCC requested the court’s permission, with Justice Anenih issuing a public summons for Bello on October 3 regarding a fresh case filed by the anti-graft agency.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed that Bello would appear in court, though he did not provide a specific time for the arraignment.
During the last hearing in October, EFCC Counsel Jamiu Agoro noted that the court’s order, issued on October 3, had not yet expired. After hearing from all counsel, Justice Anenih granted the EFCC’s request for an adjournment and set November 27 as the date for the return to court.
