Yahaya Bello causes courtroom stir as judge storms out in frustration

On Wednesday, November 27, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello made headlines when he took charge of crowd control in a courtroom, leading to a dramatic scene that caused Justice Maryann Anenih to leave in anger. Justice Anenih was scheduled to hear the plea of Yahaya Bello and two others at the FCT High Court but was visibly frustrated by the chaos in the courtroom.
As the situation became increasingly tense, Justice Anenih stood up abruptly and declared that she would not return until the courtroom was orderly. Her decision to leave left many stunned.

In a surprising turn of events, Yahaya Bello, who had been seated in the front of the courtroom, quickly sprang into action. He moved toward the growing crowd and directed his supporters to vacate their seats and leave the courtroom. His calm yet firm instructions helped ease the tension, and one by one, his followers complied without resistance.

To maintain order, Bello took a seat at the entrance of the courtroom, ensuring that no one disobeyed the court’s instructions. His followers patiently left the courtroom, adhering to his directions.

Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, is leading the federal government’s legal team in the case, while Joseph Bodunde Dauda, SAN, is representing the former governor in the 16-count charges.
