Nigerians Nabbed: Libya Cracks Down on Drug Trafficking
Tripoli, Libya – In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Libyan authorities have arrested four Nigerian nationals for allegedly peddling illicit substances in the country.
“The arrests were made following a thorough investigation,” said Libyan Interior Ministry spokesperson, Khalid Al-Tajouri. “We will continue to work tirelessly to combat drug trafficking and protect our citizens.”
Libya has struggled with a porous border and lack of effective law enforcement, making it a hub for illicit activities, including drug trafficking. The country’s health sector has also been compromised, with limited resources to tackle the growing problem.
Nigeria has been identified as a major source country for illicit substances entering Libya. The Nigerian government has pledged to cooperate with Libyan authorities to combat transnational crime.
Nigerian Ambassador to Libya, Baba Garba: “We condemn all forms of illicit activities and will work with Libyan authorities to address this issue.”
