Ashleigh Plumptre is overjoyed after being included in the Super Falcons’ squad for their upcoming international friendly against France. The 25-year-old centre-back had been sidelined for a long period due to an ACL injury sustained earlier this year, which also kept her out of the Super Falcons’ squad for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Despite this setback, Plumptre was named in a 20-player roster by interim head coach Justine Madugu for the friendly against Les Bleues on Sunday.
Plumptre expressed her excitement on social media, writing, “Feels great to have made the Super Falcons list for the upcoming international games. Good opportunity to fight for the badge again.”
Having made 17 league appearances for Nigeria, her return to the national team is a significant moment in her recovery journey.
