Abdallah praises Kano Pillars’ resilience after 2-2 draw, calls for defensive improvements
Kano Pillars’ technical adviser, Usman Abdallah, has commended his players for their strong comeback in the 2-2 draw against Lobi Stars, played on Sunday, November 24, at the Lafia City Stadium. The Pillars fought back from a 2-0 deficit to secure a valuable point in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) clash.
While pleased with his team’s resilience, Abdallah emphasized the need for defensive improvement. “We cannot continue this way. Together with my assistants, we will sit down and find ways to address this issue,” Abdallah stated in a post-match interview with Kano Pillars media.
He acknowledged that the team has been one of the highest-scoring sides in the league but stressed that conceding “silly goals” was unacceptable. “It’s unacceptable, and everyone must take responsibility from now on,” Abdallah added.
Looking ahead, Abdallah identified the need for a stronger defensive presence and called for a “no-nonsense central defender” during the upcoming mid-season transfer window. He expressed confidence that the club could strengthen its backline by scouting players from Nigeria, Niger Republic, or other countries.
