Edo governor Okpebholo sets up committee to recover government vehicles within two weeks
On Thursday, November 21, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State announced the formation of a 12-man committee tasked with recovering all government vehicles currently in the possession of private individuals.
The committee, led by Kelly Okungbowa, was inaugurated in Benin City, and Governor Okpebholo gave them a two-week deadline to complete their mission.
During the ceremony, Okungbowa, the committee chairman, expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to lead the team. He assured that all government vehicles would be recovered within the given time frame.
He stated, “A lot of vehicles used by the past administration are missing, as those in the custody of the vehicles have refused to return them. The governor deemed it fit to inaugurate us today with a mandate to recover all government vehicles in private hands.”
Okungbowa revealed that the committee’s vice chairman is the former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, and that members were selected from the three senatorial districts in the state. He emphasized that the team was committed to carrying out the task legally and efficiently.
The committee also appealed to the public to report anyone still in possession of government vehicles to aid in their recovery. “We already have some vital information regarding individuals holding government vehicles, and we will do the job according to the law,” Okungbowa said.
The public can contact the committee at 08110165121 to assist in the recovery process.
