Nigerian man found dead in hotel room in Ogun state

A man, identified as Sunday, was discovered lifeless in his hotel room at the Grand Royale Hotel, located in Sagamu, Ogun State, on Wednesday. The body was found by his brother, Jimoh Godday, after several unsuccessful attempts to contact him.

Jimoh, who lives in Imota, Lagos, had arrived at the hotel on Monday and, upon hearing no response after knocking on the door of room 109, requested a spare key from the hotel manager to gain access.

Upon entering the room, Jimoh and the hotel staff found his brother’s body, and the incident was immediately reported to the police. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that upon arriving at the scene, officers found the body already moved outside the hotel and being prepared for transport to the morgue by the deceased’s family.

A further investigation revealed that the centre of the bed was soaked with a liquid-like substance. Ogunmonti Ogunwole, a friend of the deceased, stated that he had accompanied Sunday the previous day to purchase nine different medications after he complained of illness.

The police recovered various drugs and traditional medicines from the hotel room. The body has been transported to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy.

At this time, the cause of death remains unknown. The case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a more detailed investigation.
