#OndoDecides2024: LP, ADC candidates graciously congratulate Governor Aiyedatiwa
On Monday, November 18, 2024, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Ayo Olorunfemi, and his Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) counterpart, Myson Aderemi Nejo, both congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his victory in the Ondo State governorship election held over the weekend.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the election.
In his message, Olorunfemi expressed his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for the governor’s success in office. He said: “Please accept my warm congratulations on your victory and my best wishes for your success as you prepare to take up the responsibilities and challenges of your high office. I look forward to working with you to develop closer relations based on our shared values and to concert our efforts in the cause of peace, development, and the brotherhood of our people.”
Meanwhile, Aderemi, who finished third in the election, also congratulated Aiyedatiwa, emphasizing that the election was conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act of 2022. He acknowledged the peaceful nature of the election despite some imperfections.
“Having reviewed the conduct of the election, which was peaceful, despite the imperfections and pockets of challenges characteristic of any electoral process anywhere in the world, I can confidently say that the election was conducted in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022,” Aderemi stated.
Both candidates pledged to support the governor and expressed their commitment to fostering peace and development in the state, highlighting the importance of cooperation for the benefit of Ondo’s citizens.
