England-born defender Gabriel Osho reveals his parents are from Lagos
Gabriel Osho, an England-born footballer, has shared that both of his parents were born in Lagos, Nigeria.
Osho, who plays as a defender for Auxerre in France, has decided to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, instead of his birth country, England. He arrived in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Monday, ahead of a possible match with the Nigerian national team.
Though Osho was born and raised in Reading, England, he is eligible to play for Nigeria because his parents are both Nigerian and from Lagos.
Even though he holds dual nationality, Osho chose to represent Nigeria. He first got a call-up to the Super Eagles in March 2024 for games against Ghana and Mali after his strong performances with Luton Town in the Premier League.
In a recent interview with the Super Eagles media team, Osho said, “My name is Gabriel Osho, defender for Auxerre and the Super Eagles. Both my parents were born in Lagos, and I am happy to be here.”
